The 2016 President Cup match will be launched on Wednesday June 22, at the Accra sports stadium media centre.
The annual cup match played in honour of the sitting president format has been changed, and the media will be briefed of the innovations.
Sportscrusader.com reported few weeks ago that the main match wil be held at the Accra sports stadium between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko but there will be other matches played across the country.
Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), organisers of the competition intend to weed politics out of the game and have made a proposal to the Sports Ministry to have former Presidents of country seated at the stands for the match between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
They are also working had to finance the competition to ensure they do not drain the government’s purse and negotiations between the association and potential sponsors are at advanced stage.
There are fears the week 17 fixtures of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) scheduled for June 29 could hamper the success of the cup match, but organisers are certain of teams participation.
