Two giants of African football will meet in the Cup of Nations final on Sunday night, with both sides hoping to reclaim what they feel is their rightful place at the top of the continent’s game.
Head coach of the Indomitable lions,Hugo Broos, has stated that his team is not going into the final game with a revenge at the back of their minds.
Cameroon who lost the CAN 2008 final to Egypt by one goal to nil will have to beat Egypt to avoid a two-time defeat in the final to the Pharaohs but Hugo Broos wants his side to hold on their game plan and hope to win the trophy.
“The only thing that inspires us is the final. We are not facing Egypt for a “revenge” – not at all – because if we do that we cannot hold onto our game-plan.”
“Above all, we want to win this final. For these young players – 14 of the 23 players of the squad – this is their first AFCON. So, it is a unique opportunity for them to win an AFCON title. I want to believe they are adequately motivated to win the game on Sunday.”Broos said.
