Alain Traore expressed his frustration to reporters after Egypt defeated Burkina-Faso 4-3 on penalties on Wednesday in the 2017 Africa cup Of Nations semi-final in Gabon.

Both teams were tied at 1-1 after 120 minutes before going through to penalties which witnessed, veteran goalkeeper, Essam El-Hadary superbly saved two penalties and lead the Pharaohs to the final after missing the last 3 editions of the competition.

Traore told Bein Sports, “We deserved to qualify. We deserved to be in the final. The rules of football were not respected,”

“We’ve always been told that the better team is the team that wins, but that wasn’t the case in front of Egypt. They have not shown any anything good or at least better than us and have resorted to penalty shoot-outs.” The former FC Lorient midfielder concluded.

The record seven-time African champions will play the final on Sunday against Cameroon.
