Christian Atsu Returns As New Castle Go Top In Championship

Black Stars forward, Christan Atsu, put his Nations Cup behind him with an inspirational return for New Castle as they go top in the Championship. The Toons returned to the summit of the standing with a hard earned 0-1 away triumph at Wolves.

Alexander Mitrogic found the back of the net on the stroke of half time to hand Rafael Benitez a route back to the summit of the log. The resurgent Toon army headed into the fixture trailing Brighton by two points who played earlier on in the division as the battle for direct promotion continues.

Rafael Benitez then handed his returning African star a run out at the start of the second round as a replacement for the goal scorer. The Black Stars winger capitalized on his impressive Nations cup with the Black Stars to defend his burgeoning image as the African Messi.

Atsu has since scored 3 goals in 20 games for the Toons since his summer arrival from Chelsea on loan. New Castle thus returned to the summit of the Championship after 30 rounds of matches.

The left footed wide man made a name for himself as the focal player in the Black Stars set up despite missing out on the podium.
