Cristiano Ronaldo Fires Back At Xavi

A war of words has erupted between two La Liga legends, as Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has launched a stinging attack on Barcelona hero Xavi.

On Saturday night against Osasuna, Ronaldo made his first start and appearance of the season for Los Blancos in La Liga.

After the game, Ronaldo was asked about Xavi’s comments, and the Portuguese star couldn’t stop himself from firing back:

Xavi is playing in Qatar or I don’t know. Anyone who wants a front page talks about me. He has won it all, but never Ballon d’Or.

Last week, Xavi was plastered all over the Spanish press as the former Barcelona maestro gave a series of interviews.

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was recently awarded the Best Player in Europe award, with his Barcelona counterpart Leo Messi not even making the top three.

The 31-year-old Portuguese forward won the Champions League and the European Championship but ex-Barca midfielder Xavi claims there is no comparison to be made.

Xavi then made rather controversial comments on the Spanish radio station Cadena SER:

Ronaldo is a player of his time. The problem is that there is another who has been pretty much the best player in history.

Ronaldo is extraordinary but compared to Messi, for me and for everyone who likes football, there can be no comparisons.

Messi will be number one until he wants [to stop]. He’s superior to everyone and is the best in the world, unless you are Real Madrid
