Egypt attacker Amr Warda insists the current Pharaohs side has a bright future ahead of them despite their AFCON final loss.
The North Africans were unable to secure an eighth Africa Cup of Nations title after losing 2-1 to Cameroon in the final on Sunday night.
Warda replaced the injured Marwan Mohsen in the team and put in a respectable showing as a ‘shadow’ striker.
“We did not win the tournament, but we did our best,” Warda told beIN Sports after the game.
“I ask the Egyptian fans to support the team. We are a good generation that ensures a good future for Egyptian football.
“I am very frustrated. We came here to win the title not to top our group or to reach the final. But I repeat it again; all the players did their best.”
