The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) have re-appointed Ofori Asare as head trainer of the national boxing team, the Black Bombers, Sportscrusader.com can confirm.
After the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the AIBA instructor was relieved of from his post and Laetekwesi Hammond was tasked to charge of the team.
After almost five-years, the Federation have re-engaged the experienced trainer to handle the team.
“The late president of the Federation Gideon Quartey was the person who started talking to me after realizing that the team have not been performing well,” Ofori exclusively told Sportscrusader.com.
“As he want me to come back and help the coaches who were in charge, i started by organizing seminars for the trainers. There was a particular tournament he (the late Gideon Quartey) invited me and i sat side by side with him so i selected the good boxers but sadly he passed away.”
“Because he has already started that process with me, the acting president(George Lamptey) also came in and confirmed my appointment as head trainer of the team two weeks ago.”
Ofori will be assisted by Lartekwei Hammond and Akai Nettey
