Former Arsenal and Chelsea centre back, William Gallas has told Sportscrusader.com he’s honoured Ghanaians immitated his famous ‘mohawk hairstyle’.
The former French international who pushed for a move away from the London Blues was under the media spotlight as all and sundry wanted to know what a season it will be for the tough-tackling centre half.
After an impressive first season Gallas was given the Arsenal captain’s armband and that honour was capped off with his first appearance of the famous mohawk hairstyle well gelled.
Gallas, 34, spoke to Sportscrusader.com upon arrival in Ghana fo the first time as a member of the world select XI led by Stephen Appiah to help promote peace and unity among Ghanaians before, during and after election 2016.
“Upon arrival in Ghana I was told that I am more popular than I can imagine and I asked ‘how?’ I never knew was popular among football fans in the country (Ghana), but I was told my hairstyle during my days with Arsenal is the reason.”
“When I asked my barber to give me the haircut I did not think will influence many with that hairstyle but I am glad I did (in a positive way). As I arrived in Ghana I was told of being named after a hairstyle and it got me laughing as I did not expect that however, I am
excited to have such recognition in a beautiful nation as Ghana”.
