Former French international, William Gallas has in an exclusive interview with Sportscrusader.com revealed secret behind the famous hairstyle.
The mohawk style got many youthful Ghanaian football fans visit the barbering saloon just to get the same hairstyle of the powerful centre back who won English Premier League laurels with London side, Chelsea.
Gallas, 38,was in Ghana along with a host of football icons to help former Black stars captain, Stephen Appiah promote peace and unity prior and after the presidential and parliamentary elections in November 2016.
“I only woke up one day and informed by barber who visits me once every week to give the mohawk hairstyle. As a good friend he asked me are you sure? why that hairstyle? But I insisted he should just give me that.”
“I did not then think i will influence many with that hairstyle but I am glad I did (in a positive way). Upon arrival in Ghana I was told of being named after a hairstyle and it got me laughing as I did not expect that however, I am excited to have such recognition in a beautiful nation as Ghana,” he added.
The former Chelsea defender who finished his career in Australia with A-League club Perth Glory played against the Ghana Black Stars on Saturday, June 11 as a member of the Appiah led World XI at the Accra Sports Stadium as they used football to preach peace to Ghanaians of November 7 polls.
