Two of West Africa’s football giants, Ghana and Burkina Faso lock horns in the third place play-off at the Stade De Port-Gentil on Saturday, 4 February, 2017 in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
The West African neighbors last met in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. It was one of the most fascinating matches witness in Africa’s top competition as Burkina Faso reached their first final after beating Ghana on penalties in a dramatic and controversial semi-final in Nelspruit.
Unbelievably, Ghana lost that encounter after the Burkinabe were denied spot-kicks in normal time and in extra-time, when they also had a goal ruled out, and saw Jonathan Pitroipa harshly sent off.
The Black Stars have now lost in four of their sixth successive semi-finals after they suffered defeat at the hands of the Indomitable Loins yesterday in Franceville.
