Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s inspirational skipper Amos Frimpong, has called on the local media not to put too much pressure on new boy Baba Mahama when the new season kicks off on Saturday. The versatile defender for the Kumasi based side shielded his new club mate from unnecessary pressure as they chase their first trophy since 2014.
The energetic right back for the 24 times league champions pleaded with the media not to put too much pressure on the shoulder of Baba Mahama after his mammoth arrival from Techiman City. The confident speaking skipper however remained his new team mate look destined to star prominently for the Reds in his debut season in Kumasi.
Speaking on the likely perception of Baba Mahama from the fans perspective, Amos Frimpong hinted at enormous pressure in the offing awaiting his skillful new team mate. Amos however suggested to the fans to have patience as they gel as a team instead of individual players.
“I know a lot will be expected from Baba Mahama considering what he did last season whiles playing for Techiman City.
” Many of the supporters including the media will pile a lot of pressure on Baba Mahama and I am already pleading with them to exercise patience as the team finds it first gear.
“If we allow Baba and the rest of the team without any undue pressure from either the fans or the media , I think it will help us work as a unit instead of playing individual games “, Amos Frimpong told sports crusader.
The skipper for the Kumasi based side has since enjoyed a number of laurels with the Oseikrom boys since his arrival from B.A United. Baba Mahama meanwhile set the domestic championship ablaze with his neat footwork despite ending the year in the second tier league, after the expected demotion of Techiman City.
Known as the football president, Baba Mahama has since traded the wilderness of division one football for the roaring noise In Kumasi.
