Relegation candidate, Sekondi Hasaacas held-off a late charge from Kumasi Asante Kotoko in their match week 26 encounter at the Essipong Sports Stadium.
With coach Yussif Basigi away in Cameroun on a refresher course, his assistant, Agyemang took charge of the team for the first time this season starting the game as the better of the two sides.
The home side were rewarded as they took the lead through Samuel “Okocha” Afful, who was put through on goal and with just goalkeeper, Felix Annan to beat, beautifully chipped the ball over the on-rushing goalie.
Kotoko came into the game after dropping points at home to Aduana Stars and know only a win would keep their faint title hopes alive.
Hasaacas dominated the game from the blast of the referee’s whistle, creating numerous goal-scoring chances, but the composure to convert the chances was absent as the club’s leading goal scorer, Eric Bekoe watched from the substitutes’ bench.
Kotoko captain, Amos Frimpong scored his 8th goal in 20 starts for Asante Kotoko when he equalised from the penalty spot to give the Porcupine Warriors a point away from home.
Kotoko is now 4 points away from the leaders, Wa All Stars who firmed their grip on the top spot.
