GPL Preview: Depleted Kotoko Host Ebusua Dwarfs

Depleted at the back, but high in spirit after a scintillating performance against bitter rivals Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium last Monday, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will turn their attention to bottom Ebusua Dwarfs in Kumasi on Sunday.

Dwarfs return to the domestic top-flight has been one Coach Joseph E. Sarpong never envisaged, but crying over spill milk will be suicidal as their quest to maintain their Premier League status at the end of the season grows leaner by the week.

The Abontoa Abontoa boys are dancing to the tune of the relegation drum, and picking up points in the last 20 matches of the season is topmost priority.

However, Kotoko is beaming with confidence after recording a fortuitous victory over arch rivals Hearts of Oak, to close the gap at the summit of the league table to six points.

Having suffered their last home defeat against New Edubiase United, the onus is on Michael Osei to keep singing the anthem the club dreams of and walk the mile of confidence which will be untenable for management not to consider.

After 10 matches into the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season,  Kotoko have recorded four victories, two draws and four defeats, racking up 14 points from the 30 available.

Their opponents, Ebusua Dwarfs, have suffered five defeats, won two and drawn three of the same number of matches, accruing only nine points and languishing at the bottom of the table.

Team News.

Michael Osei will hope to have Richard Osei Agyemang back after he missed the ‘Super Clash’ with a suspected hip injury. The former Berekum Chelsea defender has trained twice with the team, but it is unclear if he will be fully fit for the game.

Edwin Tuffour and Evans Quao are suspended for this game, while skipper Amos Frimpong is on international assignment with the local Black Stars.

At right back, either Samuel Sekyere or Atta Kusi will man the position, while Eric Donkor will drop to the left back position in place of the suspended Edwin Tuffour.

Theophilus Nyame limped off on Monday, but he is ready for the battle.

In Dwarfs camp, Coach Sarpong will have the luxury of making a  decision on who represents the colours of the club.

He has a full squad to choose from.

Other wise engaged.

Edwin Tuffour and Evans Quao are suspended for this game.

Man in the middle.

The referees selection committee have appointed E . R  Biney to oversee affairs on the pitch.
