Hearts Move Top After Hasaacas Win

Hearts of Oak gave their fans hope of winning their first league title in 8 years with a 1-0 win over Sekondi Hasaacas to move top of the league log.

A solitary goal from Cosmos Dauda saw the Phobians take full advantage with other results going their way as Wa All Stars lost away to WAFA while fierce rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, dropped points at home.

Coach Sergio Traguil in his first away game outside Accra, named Burkinabe international, Soulama Abdulai in goal who made important saves to ensure the victory, but it was his opposite number, veteran George Owu who had to make the result a more respectable one for the Hasmal boys.

Eric Bekoe, as expected, was Hasaacas’ dangerman but failed to find the back of the net with his best chance; an awkward shot bounced right in front of Soulama who had already dived to the right direction but the ball flew just over the bar.

In-form winger, Patrick Razak, nearly got his first goal for the Phobians, but was denied by the goal post in the 57th minute, but the man of the moment, Dauda, made the all-important strike in the 59th minute with a back heel shot to give the Rainbow side all the three points and secure top spot with 11 Games to end the season.
