Ghana’s female hockey team, the Black Sticks Ladies, failed to progress to the next round of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) World League Series, as they finished eight at the end of the competition which was held in Valencia, Spain.
The team has returned from Valencia, after failing to progress to the next stage of the competition.
Prior to the tournament, Black Sticks Ladies had high hopes of qualifying to the next round in order to increase their chances of making it to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
Ghana began her campaign with a 1-0 loss to Scotland and won against Ukraine on penalties. The team played their last group game against Poland and lost 3-0.
The again suffered a 7-0 defeat in the hands of host nation Spain and a narrow 3-2 loss to Turkey.
At the end of the competition, Ghana placed eight while Turkey finished seventh. Host country Spain finished first with Poland as runner-up while Scotland finished with a bronze medal.
