TSG Hoffeinham saw their 18 game unbeaten run in the German Bundesliga halted by Leipzig. The high flying Bundesliga newbies grounded Hoffeinham in a 2-1 win to end the German’s bragging right as the only side left in the top five league in Europe without a league defeat.
Hoffeinham headed to Leipzig as the only club in the top five leagues of Europe without a single league defeat in 17 attempts. An early goal from Nadir Amiir boosted their chances of extending the unbeaten run in the division before a late fightback halted their miraculous run.
Timo Werner hauled Leipzig back into the game on the 38th minutes, 20 minutes after doing down before Marcel Sabitzer completed the turn around. Sabitzer’s 78th minute winner was preceded by an expulsion of Hoffeinham’s Sandro Wagner, who left his s
colleagues numerically disadvantaged.
Hoffeinham however maintained their third place in the lot whiles Leipzig kept their championship hopes alive with the win and are now three points behind Bayern Munich on 42 points. Their defeat means every single club in the top five European leagues have suffered at least one defeat in the ongoing 2016/17 European season.
