Stephen Appiah Wants The Black Stars Be Handed To A Local Trainer

Former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, wants the Black Stars to be given to a local trainer when Avrant Grant runs down his contract. The retired skipper tipped a number of local trainers for the highest managerial position in the country.

The Accra Hearts of Oak graduate remained confident our local coaches have what it takes to handle the Black Stars at any major tournament. The disappointed retired Ghana international opened his cards wider with several names popping up on his potential coaches of the Black Stars.

The former Black Stars number ten identified Kwesi Appiah Sellas Tetteh, CK Akunnor and Ibrahim Tanko as potential replacement for Avrant Grant when his current deals expires after the Nation’s Cup.

“I think the handlers of the National team should give the Black Stars to a local coach.

“Coaches like Kwesi Appiah , CK Akunnor, Sellas Tetteh Bobor, Ibrahim Tanko and others can handle the team when given to them”, Appiah suggested on Soccer Chat.

The celebrated former Juventus midfield dynamo remained of the rare breed of Ghanaian players to have played for Ghana at any major tournament from the U15 to the FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars have since been exchanging hands from one expatriate trainer to the other sandwiched by a cameo role handed to Kwesi Appiah.
