Black Stars attacker Frank Opoku Acheampong scored twice to put Anderlecht in pole position for a last sixteen spot. The Belgium based Ghana international marked his return to European football with a brace in the first leg of the last sixteen ties ahead of the return in Russia.
The left winger pocketed two strikes in a 2-0 win for RST Anderlecht over Russian giants, Zenith St Petersburg. The pocket size winger opened the scoring for the host just five minutes into the tie before doubling his personal tally 32 minutes into the tie.
The returning Ghanaian, who featured as a left back for Avrant Grant’s charges at the just ended Nation’s Cup, came close to registering a hat-trick in the European tie only to be denied by heroic goal keeping. The inspired Ghanaian made way for Chipcui on the hour mark as a precautionary substitute.
